The Problem We Solve

Before sites like ours existed, checking today egg rate meant calling a supplier, walking to the local mandi, or relying on a WhatsApp forward that was already two days old. Retail buyers had no way to verify if the price they were being quoted matched the official NECC rate.

This information asymmetry cost buyers money every day.A dhaba owner in Lucknow had no easy way to know that today egg rate in Delhi was ₹5.80 while his supplier was quoting ₹6.40. A hotel purchasing manager in Mumbai couldn't quickly cross-check whether today's invoice rate matched NECC's published wholesale price.

TodayEggRate.live fixes this. One URL. Every city. Updated every morning before the first wholesale transaction of the day.

Guides That Explain the Market

Why does Delhi always pay more than Chennai? Why do egg rates crash in May? Our blog explains the economics behind every rupee of price movement.

How We Source & Publish NECC Data

1

NECC Announces Official Rates — 6 AM IST Daily

Every morning, NECC (National Egg Coordination Committee)— India's apex poultry body founded in 1982, headquartered in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu — publishes official wholesale egg rates for each city across all 6 pricing zones. These are the legally recognised benchmark prices for wholesale egg transactions in India, representing over 25,000 egg producers.

2

We Fetch Via the EggRates.in API

We integrate with the EggRates.inAPI — India's most comprehensive egg price data platform — which aggregates and validates NECC's daily announcements. Our server fetches the latest price data automatically. We do not manually enter or edit any price figures.

3

Pages Refresh Every 6 Hours

All 38 city pages and 17 state pages are rebuilt from fresh API data every 6 hours using Next.js Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR). This means pages are served at CDN speed while staying current. The date and price displayed on every page always reflect the latest NECC announcement.

4

What These Prices Represent

All prices shown are NECC wholesale rates — the official price at which eggs trade between producers and large buyers (wholesalers, distributors, institutions). Retail prices at your local kirana or supermarket will typically be ₹1–₹2 higher per egg due to retailer margin. We display wholesale rates because they are the only standardised, publicly announced benchmark in the Indian egg market.

Data accuracy is dependent on NECC's official announcements and the EggRates.in API. On days when NECC does not publish rates (rare national holidays), the previous day's rate is shown with the original date. We never backdate, estimate, or fabricate price data.

Why Egg Prices Matter

The egg is India's most democratically consumed protein. At ₹5–₹7 per egg, it is affordable across every income bracket — from a Mumbai banker's omelette to a Vidarbha farmer's dinner. India produces over 120 billion eggs per year, making it the third-largest egg-producing country in the world.

A single rupee change in today egg rate, multiplied across India's daily consumption of 10 crore eggs, represents a ₹10 crore daily shift in the economy. The people most affected by this movement — small restaurant owners, street food vendors, institutional canteen managers, low-income households — are exactly who we built this for.

When Barwala's feed costs rise because of a global soya shortage, today egg rate in Delhi climbs within 24 hours. When Tamil Nadu has a record flock season, Namakkal's surplus pushes South India prices down. These are real market forces with real consequences — and everyone deserves to understand them.
